City 2% Sales Tax Revenue

The City of Starkville collects an additional 2% food and beverage tax and a 2% hotel/motel tax. This chart tracks the monthly revenue from this 2% tax. Note that revenue from this source was increasing prior to the implementation of the Starkville smoke free ordinance (Marker A), and has continued to grow after the implementation. It should also be noted that Starkville is a college town – monthly 2% revenue are typically higher during football season and during the Fall and Spring Semesters.
